Security Provider Red Flags!

When it comes to selecting a firm to either install or maintain your security systems you must look out for the RED flags!

  • Does the company have the accreditations to make them insurance compliant?

Informing the insurance company you have a fully working intruder alarm system in your home or business can help bring the cost of your home insurance down. However, these intruder alarms must be fitted to the current accredited standards and failing that may affect any insurance claims in the future.

  • Does the company have legal rights to the equipment once the contract is terminated?

Some companies provide quick and easy installations for what seems to be cheap prices.  What they don’t advertise is this comes with a high monthly or annually rolling fee that once cancelled means you lose all rights to the equipment and is then removed from your home or business. This is complete nonsense and a product installed should belong to the customer once paid for.

  • Are the engineers attending fully trained and qualified?

We only send experienced and trained engineers out to our customers, giving us the confidence that the job will be done efficiently and to the best quality. They are trained in health and safety, customer service and tidy neat installations and maintenance. This is why we have lead times, customers are waiting for the quality we provide knowing they can trust us. It’s also why we have 1000’s of local returning customers that return year after year for their maintenance.

  • Does the company oversell and have a pushy sales approach?

We believe genuine sales tactics are the way forward, website uploads, genuine social media posts of our work along with customer feedback. Tacky adverts, cold calling and constant email harassment practically begging for work are normally large corporate companies that don’t care for the individual needs of their customers. Everyone’s scenario is different, and everyone gets security for different reasons which may contribute to how your quote is tailored to suit.

  • Does the company have an easy cancellation policy?

At R&S our customers have the peace of mind there is 0 month cancellation notice, you can literally cancel the day before if you’ve changed your mind (although of course we’d rather you didn’t). Only our monitored customers require a 3 months cancellation notice to allow us to inform the central station and get everything removed our end. Our competitors seem to have poor reviews mainly when it comes to cancellation policies, it seems like you need to give 2 years notice, in writing, signed by the prime minister (to be slightly exaggerative). How can they expect return of customers with these silly policies?
