Fire Extinguishers
UK fire safety legislation states that you must provide ‘appropriate’ fire-fighting equipment in your business premises. This is usually referring to portable fire extinguishers but those businesses deemed as higher risk businesses (such as restaurants) may need additional equipment such as hose reels or sprinklers.
With our qualified and experienced team, our surveyors can advise you on the correct fire extinguishers for your premises - either as new installations and or for the maintenance of existing units.
Types of Fire Extinguishers
There are 5 different types of fire extinguishers in all different sizes.
- Water (wood, paper, textiles)
- Foam (wood, paper, textiles, flammable liquids, petrol)
- Co2 (Electrical Fires where the current may be present, cooking oils and fats)
- Wet chemical (Cooking oil, fats)
- Dry powder (wood, paper, textiles, flammable liquids, flammable gases)
You must make sure the fire extinguishers fitted are the right kind for your business, in the best position and be annually maintained by a competent person.
